In conjunction with Royal Dutch Shell, Amazon has gone to announce how there will be green energy. From the Shell Energy Europe BV, specifically. Amazon is looking to supply some green energy off of a subsidy-free wind farm.
Also, the CrossWind consortium, which is commonly known as a joint venture between Shell and the Dutch company Eneco, is largely responsible for sensible sustainable energy. It operates on the wind farm. Beginning in 2024, Amazon will utilize a whopping combination of 250 megawatts from Shell and 130 megawatts from Eneco, for a total of 380 MW.
Therefore, this type of shift in power, wind power, really, enables Amazon to power its business in a completely new direction. This is by using clean energy by 2025. Alternatively, this would also be five years before its original target of 2030. Because of this, Amazon has pledged to become net-zero by 2040. Shell has pledged to be net-zero by 2050 or sooner. This seems unlikely, given Shell’s status as a big-time provider of gasoline. Like them, we in the auto transport industry will have to wait for better technology to be truly net-zero.
Five days ago, Amazon officially started using Rivian electric vans to make customer deliveries. Amazon is buying 100,000 electric delivery vans from Rivian.
Deep Amazon retrofits = US jobs
BuildingClean.org, a drive of the BlueGreen Alliance Foundation. The US environmental group-labor union alliance, finds itself upping the rate of US residential deep retrofits. With energy-efficient housing products alongside the implementation of Buy American procurement policies, it could create over 190,000 American manufacturing jobs.
Beyond this, deep retrofits go beyond basic weatherization and feature exterior continuous insulation; energy-efficient appliances; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); and windows.
Currently, at the current estimated retrofit rate of 2%, just strengthening retrofits to full deep retrofits would support 132,000 manufacturing jobs. Adding a Buy American policy to a deep retrofit rate of 2% would create another 20,000 jobs. Finally, the report explored the impact of increasing the deep retrofit. Rate to 4% while also enacting a Buy American policy. Under this scenario, more than 170,000 additional US jobs would be created.
