In El Paso, it’s the Fourth of July weekend, and as family and friends gather in person once again, El Paso is offering many elaborate fireworks displays and other parties to celebrate the holiday. Moreover, we tend, as a nation, to think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence. But, it, in fact, represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. July 4, also known as Independence Day, which does marks the anniversary of the Second Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. In fact, the Congress made up of delegates from the United States’ original 13 colonies, that was unanimously approved the document that it in fact declared independence from Great Britain.
This year, Fourth of July, Independence Day does, in fact, mark an exceptional time of celebration as more people can gather safely for fireworks, live music, parties, and community events. It’s should be a fun-filled weekend of parties for all El Paso residents involved to see friends and family they have missed so much doing COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns that have changed society and making way for something called the “New Normal.”
